The new season of the CW’s Hart of Dixie premieres tonight Tuesday, October 2.
Last season ended with Wade (Bethel Wilson) and Zoe (Rachel Bilson) giving into their feelings and hooking up just as newly single George (Scott Porter) stops by to declare his feelings for the transplanted New Yorker.
The second season begins after the Zoe/Wade hook-up. Showrunner Leila Gerstein reveals the love triangle will continue regardless of who initially gets the girl. Everything is more heightened now because Zoe has slept with Wade and also declared her feelings for George who has reciprocated those feelings.
Gerstein futher explains the complicated situation the conflicted doctor, lovelorn barkeep, and single lawyer will be facing in the sophomore season.
“What was a crush on George has turned into him calling off his wedding and making a huge gesture for her; and what was sexual chemistry with Wade has turned into full-on sex. So, there’s still a lot of push and pull on Zoe, and you will feel both sides continually — even though she does make a decision.”
In the first episode, the tension over Zoe leads to a brawl between the two friends. Lemon (Jaime King) is still getting over George leaving her at the altar and comes looking for Zoe with a knife.
Girlfriends actress Golden Brooks joins the series in a recurring role this season. She plays Ruby, a successful woman who returns to Bluebell and becomes friends with Zoe. There’s some history between her, Lavon (Cresss Williams) and Lemon. Ruby was Lavon’s high school sweetheart so there’s some unresolved issues between them and it puts her at odds with Lemon.
The new season premieres tonight in its new Tuesday night time-slot at 8/7 central on the CW.
