Season 4 of The Good Wife premieres tonight Sunday, September 30. There’s plenty of new faces turning up this season. With Lockhardt Gardner in financial woes, Nathan Lane has a recurring role as the firm’s court appointed trustee Clarke Hayden. The firm is in bankruptcy limbo and needs to make a certain amount to pay off the creditors by a certain amount of time. Will’s (Josh Charles) suspension is lifted and he is practicing law again. David Lee (Zach Grenier) will have a certain amount of clout now that the firm is in financial trouble and his family law practice is doing well. He will have some run-ins with Lane’s Clarke Hayden.
Kalinda’s estranged husband Nick is in town. How does this bode for Cary and Kalinda’s complicated relationship? Eli (Alan Cumming) will be focused on Peter’s (Chris Noth) gubernatorial run. He’s laser focused on his goal of getting Peter elected but at times may get a little unhinged. Peter is more focused on winning. The challenge he faces is keeping his ethics in the face of wanting to win the election.
Alicia is more engaged this season as she really wants Peter to win. She still tries to protect her children who want a more active role in their father’s campaign. Alicia also befriends a wealthy businesswoman Maddie Hayward played by Maura Tierney. It will be a reunion of sorts for the two ER alums. Alicia will struggle to find the balance on where to draw a line between the personal and the professional. She wants someone to be a friend without having an agenda.
