Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars in the Rian Johnson sci-fi thriller, Looper. The role was written by Rian Johnson with him in mind. He describes his character in the movie as a sad guy who on the surface is a tough killer but in reality he is not living the life he wants and doesn’t have anything or anyone he cares about. The 31-year-old actor talked to Flaunt Magazine about his latest movie and his leading man status.
“Leading man is not a term I would use to describe myself. I’m lucky enough to play parts I enjoy. Here in L.A., they like to distinguish a ‘leading man’ from a ‘character actor,’ and I don’t like that. I think a leading man is someone who simply plays themselves and who also happens to be handsome. Someone like Cary Grant. And I love Cary Grant. But I’m not him.”
Looper is in theaters September 28.
