Austrian director Stefan Ruzowitzky’s 2008 film, The Counterfeiters won the Academy Award for best foreign-language film. His new suspense thriller, Deadfall was written by first-time screenwriter Zach Dean. The film stars Eric Bana (Hanna) as Addison and Olivia Wilde (Cowboys & Aliens) as Liza, a brother and sister who pulls off a casino heist that goes wrong. Everything is against the siblings when during their getaway, an accident leaves their wheel man and a state trooper dead. They must split up and head north to the Canadian border in the middle of a blizzard. Charlie Hunnam from Sons of Anarchy also stars as Jay, an ex-boxer and recently released convict who picks up Liza on his way to Thanksgiving dinner with his mother (Sissy Spacek) and his father (Kris Kristofferson), a retired sheriff. Kate Mara is Hanna, who is part of the local law enforcement tasked with bringing the fugitives in. All the twist and turns lead to a thrilling climax in the wintry countryside.
Deadfall is available on Video on Demand November 1 and hits theaters December 7.
