The 69th Venice International Film Festival kicked off on August 29 and will run through September 8. Notable films such as The Reluctant Fundamentalist, The Iceman, and Tai Chi 0 were being screened at the festival. The drama, At Any Price was selected to compete for the Golden Lion for best film.
Kate Hudson and Liev Schreiber were at the premiere of their film, The Reluctant Fundamentalist. Schreiber’s partner, Naomi Watts was also in attendance. The film was adapted from a novel by British-Pakistani author Mohsin Hamid. The story takes place in a single evening at a cafe where a Pakistani man tells an American stranger about his love affair with an American woman.
Stars Zac Efron and Maika Monroe attended the premiere of their film, At Any Price. The drama was directed by Ramin Bahrani and tells a story of Iowa corn farmer played by Dennis Quaid, who wants his younger son played by Zac Eforn, to help him expand the family farm business. The son has his own dreams of being NASCAR driver that conflict with what his father wants for him.
Ray Liotta, Michael Shannon and Winona Ryder attended the premiere of their film, The Iceman. The film was based on the true story of Richard Kuklinski, a contract killer.
Hong Kong and Taiwan stars, Eddie Peng, Yuan Xiaochao, Angelababy Yang, Tony Leung Ka Fai were joined by director Stephen Fung at the premiere of Tai Chi O. The movie follows an outsider who travels to the Chen village so he can learn a powerful form of Tai Chi.
