‘Beautiful Creatures’ Movie

The movie adaption of Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl’s best-selling YA series, Beautiful Creatures just wrapped production in New Orleans.  The story follows narrator, Ethan Wate (Alden Ehrenreich) who starts having dreams of a mysterious girl who turns out to be new girl in town, Lena Duchannes (Alice Englert).  Lena is a caster or witch who will be claimed by light or dark on her sixteenth birthday.

The movie stars Emmy Rossum (Shameless) as Ridley Duchannes, Lena’s dark caster cousin.  Newcomer Alice Englert was casted as Lena and hails from New Zealand.  She is the daughter of  Jane Campion, Oscar-winning director of  The Piano.  Kyle Gallner (A Nightmare on Elm Street and The Haunting) will play Larkin, Ridley’s brother and Lena’s cousin.  Alden Ehrenreich replaced Jack O’Connell (Skins) as Ethan Wate and Thomas Mann (Project X) will play Ethan’s best friend, Link.   Academy Award winners, Jeremy Irons and Emma Thompson star alongside Academy Award nominated, Viola Davis.  The movie should hit theatres next year.
