The 2012 Toronto Film Festival Line-Up Includes Juan Antonio Bayona’s ‘The Impossible’

Selections for the upcoming Toronto Film Festival were announced today.  The Impossible, directed by Juan Antonio Bayona (The Orphanage)  was selected as one of the films being screened at the festival.

Tens of thousands of ordinary people were swept up in the mayhem that ensued during the 2004 tsunami that hit Thailand.  The film is a true account of one family’s harrowing ordeal in the aftermath of one of the worst natural disasters.

The true-life terror is tempered by the unexpected displays of compassion, courage and simple kindness that Maria and her family encounter during the darkest hours of their lives. Both epic and intimate, devastating and uplifting, The Impossible is a journey to the core of the human heart –  ROPESOFSILICON.COM

The cast includes Ewan McGregor, Naomi Watts, Tom Holland, Samuel Joslin and Oaklee Pendergast
