Former First Son and Do-Gooder Twin

USA Networks new six-part limited event series, Political Animals

Premise of the show is Elaine Barrish Hammond, former first lady and current Secretary of State (Sigourney Weaver) trying to navigate the political waters while managing her twin sons- one gay icon and one do-gooder, an ex-husband and former President, her mother, a journalist out to get her, and her boss, the President of America.

Douglas Hammond

The son of Secretary of State Elaine Barrish Hammond and former president Bud Hammond, 30-year-old Douglas Hammond (James Wolk) has inherited his parents’ intelligence, ambition, and passion for politics. Unlike his troubled twin brother T.J., Doug has emerged from his childhood in the spotlight seemingly unscathed, serving as his mother’s Chief of Staff and the de facto family diplomat. But as the demands of his career and family multiply and his engagement to interior designer Anne Ogami faces mounting challenges, Doug struggles to balance the competing demands of his personal and political live-and the cracks beneath his buttoned-up facade begin to show.
