The new CW series, Arrow is based on the DC Comic character, Green Arrow. Oliver Queen returns to Sterling City after being missing and presumed dead for five years. He is rescued from a remote island in Pacific where he was shipwrecked. On the island he fought for survival and honed his skills as an archer and all around bad-ass. He takes on the Arrow persona to beat baddies, write the wrongs of his family and to restore Sterling City to what it was before daddy flushed the city down the toilet.

He was previously seen on the HBO series, Hung about a teacher who becomes a male prostitute to make more money. Amell played James, the new gigolo and competition.
“I’ve never really done fight stuff on television or in front of the camera,” Amell, 31, tells The Hollywood Reporter, noting that he taught himself how to do the challenging salmon ladder depicted in the pilot. “Although sex scenes remain the most physically demanding things that I’ve ever done on TV.”
