AMC Breaking Bad Final Season 5 Premieres Sunday, July 15 10/9c

Cast: Bryan Cranston (Malcom in the Middle) is Walter White, Aaron Paul (Big Love) is Jesse Pinkman, Anna Gunn (Deadwood) as Skyler White, RJ Mitte as Walter White Jr, Dean Norris as Hank Schrader, and Betsy Brandt as Marie Schrader.

AMC’s final season of Breaking Bad premieres this Sunday.  The show follows protagonist, Walter White, a chemistry teacher who lives in New Mexico with his wife, Skyler and their son Walter Jr. who has cerebral palsy.  Walter is diagnosed with stage III cancer and given the prognosis of having two years to live.  With nothing to fear at this point, Walter sets out to give his family some financial security after he is gone.  He decides to go into the dangerous world of drugs and crime and enlists his former student, Jesse to help him with the new business venture.  The cancer diagnosis has released Walter from the constraints of society but in his quest to leave a legacy for his family, has made him a ruthless and pitiless person thus robbing his family of the man he was.

AMC is splitting Season 5 into two parts with the first eight episodes broadcast this summer and the final eight episodes airing in summer 2013.

Season 5 breakdown:

Breaking Bad returns to AMC for the first part of its final season on Sunday July 15 at 10/9c. In the highly anticipated new season, a newly empowered and increasingly remorseless Walter White (Bryan Cranston) finds himself attempting to control a tenuous empire. But uneasy lies the head that wears the crown. At the end of Season 4, Walt’s war with Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito) ended in triumphant victory. Now, his transformation from a well-meaning family man into Heisenberg, a ruthless drug kingpin, is almost complete. No longer under the thumb of a mastermind criminal, Walt now assumes the role of one himself, as he and Jesse (Aaron Paul) look to build their own empire. Meanwhile, Skyler (Anna Gunn) struggles with the reality of her husband’s new role and Hank (Dean Norris) works to wrap up his investigation of Gus’ business.
