Michael Fassbender as an Assassin 

Variety is reporting that Michael Fassbender (Prometheus, Shame, X-Men: First Class) will be starring and co-producing the film adaption of popular Ubisoft video game franchise, Assassin’s Creed. 

Assassin’s Creed has sold over 30 million units since 2007.  The plot of the game is centered on a man who is kidnapped by a secret organization tied to the Knights Templar and learns his ancestors were trained assassins.  He is sent back in time to retrieve historical artifacts.  Some of the time jumps involve the Italian Renaissance, the world of Pope Alexander VI, Rodrigo Borgias of Rome and the American Revolutionary War.

Micahael Fassbender rejoined director of Shame, Steve McQueen for the film adaption of the book, Twelve Years a Slave.  The story is about, Solomon Northup, a free citizen living in New York who gets kidnapped in 1841 and is taken to the South and sold into slavery.  He plays Edwin Epps.    Fassbender is also linked to Ridley Scott’s, The Counselor about a lawyer who gets involved with drug trafficking.
