The 25 year-old actor-musician was listed in the 2009 VMan issue as one of the hot British actors to watch. He has mainly appeared on English TV shows such as Silk and Trinity. He was also in the 2009 Fall/Winter Burberry campaign with Emma Watson and Douglas Booth. Burberry has been known to use the the best looking, up-and-coming British actors for their campaign. His feature film debut was in Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s written and directed 2010 movie, Cemetary Junction. He played the charismatic Bruce in this coming of age dramedy set in the 70s. The movie also starred Christian Cooke and Felicity Jones.
In a 2010 interview with London Evening Standard, he talked about getting character notes from Gervais and Merchant and not talking about his music.
As well as acting, he plays guitar in a band, although he doesn’t want to talk about it – to the point where he won’t even tell me the band’s name. ’We made a rule,’ he says gravely. Music is a ‘massive, massive’ part of his life. While filming Cemetery Junction, Gervais and Merchant would give him character notes in terms of musical references. ‘Make this the most Gallagher you can!’ Gervais shouted to him before a scene. Tom would listen to the band Free on his iPod while waiting on set. ‘Music helps me get in the right frame of mind; I might listen to it to help me colour a scene.’
He will next be seen in Stay with Me and Eight Minutes Idle.
